So this isn't a question of MGS2 on PS2 which could absolutely could not work on a PS1 or a game like Uncharted which could absolutely not work on a PS2.
COVID), and (to some extent) the technology itself but these consoles are the first to truly adopt "the PC model" of upgrades where you basically just add components within the same technical framework to "accelerate" the game. It's due to a combination of economics, politics, timing, unfortunate circumstances (i.e. No mater how good you think they look (FH5, Horizon FW, GOW Ragnarok etc), they can run on previous gen just a bit lower IQ and with a slower update rate. Every game we've seen so far has been designed on engines built for Xbox One and PS4. I've been saying it repeatedly: no games that we have seen coming for these new consoles are built for the ground up for them.
